Seaview Solar Farm

The Seaview Solar Farm in Seddon is a groundbreaking renewable energy project located adjacent to the Yealands Winery. Recently commissioned, it features 6,168 solar panels and boasts a capacity of 4.07MW, making it the largest solar farm in the upper South Island. The farm, developed by Energy Marlborough, a subsidiary of Marlborough Lines, began producing energy in October 2024. It is expected to generate approximately 6.5GWh annually, enough to power 800 typical residential homes in Marlborough. This significant investment in renewable energy marks a major step forward in meeting the region’s growing energy needs sustainably. The Seaview Solar Farm is part of a broader vision to establish Marlborough as a leader in renewable energy, with plans for an even larger solar farm in Ward already underway. Callahan & Martella Electrical played a crucial role in this innovative project.

Our team at Callahan & Martella Electrical was responsible for the full electrical installation at the Seaview Solar Farm. This included connecting all 6,168 solar panels together, terminating inverters, and installing isolators and LV boards around the farm. We also conducted comprehensive DC and AC testing to ensure the farm's optimal performance and safety. Our expertise in managing large-scale renewable energy projects ensured that the electrical systems were installed efficiently and to the highest standards, contributing to the farm's ability to generate clean energy for the Marlborough community.

Punawai Hockey Pavilion & Turf

The Punawai Hockey Pavilion in Blenheim is a state-of-the-art facility situated on Nelson Street, part of the Marlborough Girls’ College campus. Recently christened, it features a world-class water turf and a purpose-built pavilion. The name “Punawai,” meaning “spring of water,” was gifted by iwi during the dawn opening attended by over 100 people. The pavilion, constructed by Robinson Construction, hosts teams before and after matches, providing changing sheds and post-match facilities. The TigerTurf ECOCEPT artificial turf base, which uses 96 percent re-used rubber and plastic, makes it eco-friendly and easy to install. The facility marks a new era for hockey in Marlborough, fully compliant with International Hockey Federation standards. Callahan & Martella Electrical, played a role in this exciting project.

Lansdowne Park Sports Hub

Callahan & Martella Electrical proudly handled all electrical work for the Lansdowne Park Sports Hub. The facility boasts ground-floor changing rooms, storage areas, public toilets, an umpires’ room, netball control room, and tuck shop. Additionally, there are first-floor club rooms complemented by an office, meeting room, kitchen, bar, and restroom facilities. These upper-level spaces offer panoramic views of both the netball courts and rugby field below.

ASB Theatre Marlborough

The ASB Theatre Marlborough, located in Blenheim, is a state-of-the-art facility that opened its doors in March 2016. This multi-purpose venue has become a cultural hub, hosting a variety of performances, including those by the Royal New Zealand Ballet and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. The theatre's design and construction aimed to provide a world-class experience for both performers and audiences, featuring advanced lighting and sound systems.
